It is the time of the olive picking.. I wrote about it last week!
This evening one of our Arab friends who lives in a village near the kibbutz phoned us and asked if he could come for a cup of coffee.
When he asks something like this I know that he is going to bring us something nice to eat.
His wife, Fatma, is a wonderful cook. Although we do not really understand each other.. her Hebrew is not very good and I don't speak Arabic at all.. we are still
able to communicate with each other, using hands and feet.
Fatma also taught me how to make some of her Arab dishes. But it does not matter how often I make them, it is just not the same taste.

And when she prepares her dishes, it looks so simple and it goes so quickly. And that is not really what is happening in my kitchen when I try to copy her!
She learned everything from her mother and this started when she was still a very young girl. Cooking, preparing food is a big part of her life and she loves doing it.
So I was waiting to see what it would be this time! Well, it was a huge bottle full of the most beautiful olives preserved by her! mmmm... ... I cannot wait to start eating them,
love, Joanne
